Associate Programs Newsletter #566 - March 12th, 2014.
Here's the big announcement I promised you last week.
I've finally decided to retire.
All my websites and newsletters have been bought by someone you
might remember as part of the AssociatePrograms.com family a few
years ago.
He's set up a brand new company dedicated to growing small online
businesses and improving the lives of their owners.
Acquiring AssociatePrograms.com and my other sites is part of his
strategy to build the community.
More about that later. First, I'll tell you why I'm retiring...
In affiliate marketing, we're sold the dream of being your own
boss, living wherever you want, and working only when you feel
like it.
Well, I've been there, done that, and it's been so much better
than I ever dreamed when I started. However, after 16 years with
AssociatePrograms.com, it's time for a change.
For someone whose normal attention span for a project is three
years, 16 years is a very long time to spend on one thing.
My other pastimes - spending time with family, gardening,
reading, kayaking, and renovating old houses - are higher
priorities now.
So I'm doing you all a favor, handing over to someone who also
has your interests at heart, an experienced online marketer who
will do a much better job of providing you with the up-to-date
information and tools you need to succeed online.
That person is Jay Stockwell who was my business partner for 5
years and left to put all his energies into building software
(including the highly acclaimed SpeedPPC) as well as working
growing a finance company he's a shareholder in.
I'm excited to see where he takes things. He had a deep
understanding of how to grow online businesses and has
orchestrated the marketing strategy for delivering close to
$100 million dollars in sales online.
He's even consulted for multi-national brands like Nickelodeon
and Billabong.
Now he's here to help you grow your businesses.
Over to you, Jay. . .

The 30 minutes that changed my life. . .
==========================
It's funny how the seemingly incidental moments can define your
life.
I don't know if I've ever told Allan this before, but 30 minutes
of his time in 1998 completely changed mine.
I've known Allan ever since I was a kid, and both Allan and
Joanna used to come and stay with our family when they were in
town. It was on one of these trips that I was chatting to Allan
and he began to tell me about what he was doing on the Internet.
When he told me how it was fairly easy to set up a website I
asked him to show me.
He opened up Notepad and hit a few keys and out came HTML. When
he then showed me how the HTML was changed into a visual form you
could publish online, my world changed.
That day he ignited a spark in me that has never gone out.
I literally became obsessed with this online world and started
spending night and day building sites that contained more
animated gifs than I wish to admit to.
Over the next year or two they would continue to visit and I'd
glean more information from him.
It was during these times that Allan gave me something even more
valuable than technical skill.
He gave me a mindset and a few key pieces of information that
turned my hobby site about BMX dirt jumping into my first
business.
The mindset he gave me was that it didn't matter how good a
website was, if there was no traffic it was dead in the water.
The most beautiful painting in the world hung in the middle of a
forest that no-one will ever see doesn't add value to the world.
It certainly doesn't make any money. :)
Allan gave me a few key pieces of information about SEO that
dramatically changed things so that instead of getting hundreds
of visitors a month, it got hundreds of thousands. Perhaps just
as importantly, he taught me key things about how to turn that
traffic into money.
Things may be more complex nowadays, but the opportunities are
greater.
I really believe that.
We live in a time like no other and there is no need to fit into
the old industrial mindsets of working for a pay check if you
don't want to.
I've seen the freedom that having a highly profitable online
business can bring and I'm hungry to help as many people as I can
make that part of their lives.
To be honest, I reckon that the "Internet Marketing" space is for
the most part a joke. Seeing the mindsets and reading the advice
on sites like the Warrior forum are soul destroying. I hope I can
filter the noise, expose the charlatans and give you clear
focused direction.
I'm excited to join this community again and my goal is not to
just give a bit of surface, unstructured advice here and there.
My goal is to give you the same growth framework that I've used
to drive millions of dollars in sales so that you can apply it to
your own business.
A framework to help you create a life changing, sustainable
business that adds value to the world.
Not working a loophole to make a few quick bucks, but rather
building an asset that you can be proud of.
Maybe even something that you can sell one day.
Just as Allan gave to me (and for 16 years to the
AssociatePrograms.com community), I hope what I'll share with you
over the coming months and years will contribute to you changing
your lives for the better.
Are you going to join me? :)

Thought for today: Your value as a human being
==========================
"How much of your time is spent consuming things other people
made (TV, music, video games, websites) versus making your own?
Only one of those adds to your value as a human being."
