The difference between successful and unsuccessful New Year's resolutions...
I was shocked when I read that New Year's resolutions have a 92% failure rate.
With statistics like that, I'm surprised that some bureaucrat hasn't tried to ban them. :)
Will one of your goals be to grow a new income stream in 2015?
Ever since I graduated from my Behavioural Science degree many years ago, I've been fascinated with how we can hack our brains to obtain the results we want.
The main differences I've found in the research between people who succeed in achieving their goals and those that fail, relate to the following behaviors.
You should:
Focus on one goal (or resolution), rather than many.
Set realistic, specific goals. Making money is not a specific goal. Building a site that generates 500 visits a day is.
Don't wait until New Year's eve to make resolutions. Create daily habits.
Take small steps. Don't overwhelm yourself. Think of yourself as a diesel engine moving steadily towards a goal.
Find a group of people who you can be accountable to and who are chasing similar things.
Focus your thinking on new behaviors and thought patterns. You have to create new neural pathways in your brain to change habits.
Focus on the now. What's the one thing you can do today, right now, towards your goal?
